Save Our Habitat

resource image
Currently right now people are digging up animals habitats, and cutting down trees. We can start by protecting our animals from people that are killing and hunting animals and have now cause them to nearly become extinct. For example there are only 5,000 black rhinos left on earth.

People are also cutting down trees because people need to build stores, houses, and other buildings. This all has reason but is a building worth more than a koalas house,a birds nest,or maybe even a squirrels home where there family lives? Everything has a reason behind whether it’s building a house, a building, a store it has a reason behind it.

So why should we save our habitat because it will leave them homeless no shelter, no food and nowhere to sleep and yes they are just animals and they do live in the wild but buildings are just building stores are just stores. It's all the same so maybe we should stop destroying animals habitats and cutting down trees and start thinking on ways to improve on helping those habitats and improving them to fit more wild animals. For example why don't we add more food and houses in those habitats so animals could live in a safe environment.

Manaiakalani Questionnaire

Today we had completed a Manaiakalani questionnaire this is a photo of the questionnaire when finished. Things I found interesting was the questions, the questions were surprising and exciting. I think our class deserves a prize for completing this questionnaire. For example a prize that we could get is pizza. One question I really thought that was interesting is, learn create share connects with my culture. I really liked this question because it is connecting with our culture and a lot of people don't think of culture when using a digital device.

๐ŸŒŽ World Goes Dark For Earth Hour๐ŸŒŽ

๐ŸŒŽ EARTH HOUR๐ŸŒŽ

Today I have been reading a interesting article about how the Earth went dark for Earth hour.

The reason behind Earth Hour is a call for global action on climate change. This means that countries around the world go dark for one hour, over 180 countries have particapeted in this important event. This event is started in Sydney in 2007, Earth Hour has spread to tens of millions of people joining in this world wide event. Monuments including the Sydney Opera House, the Empire State Building, the Kremlin, Big Ben, the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the Eiffel Tower and Egypt’s pyramids were all to “switched off” also including the Auckland Sky Tower.

Last week on Thursday at Tamaki College we had technology. We made sweet and sour pork with a homemade sauce. One thing I think I could improve on is listening to instructions carefully and using my initiative. These are the steps we used to make our food.Slice the onion then slice the carrot boil the pan with one cup of olive oil then start to fry for 10-15 minutes then add the pork and fry for another 10 minutes then add the sauce, mix for 1 minute and then that is your sweet and sour pork.
Here is a photo of what we made.

Polynesian Explorers Reflection

WALT: To write a paragraph about the Polynesian Explorers

This week we have been reading a journal about the Polynesian explorers. This was mostly about the history of the Polynesians in the past. Words that I find interesting are voyage, mile, navigator, horizon, debris, archaeology, nautical, stern and hull those are a whole bunch of words that are really interesting to me. One thing I found interesting was that all countries in the Polynesian combined are bigger than Russia.

The Desert Kaupoi ๐ŸŽ–️

WALT: Write a summary about the journal The Desert Kaupoi

This week I have been reading a journal about the war in 1914 onto 1938. A key idea from this journal is bravery. Bravery was shown by how Mcdonald, one of the soldiers threw their arm with fury after it had been blown off by a enemy machine gun post. Another key idea was heroism,Tony was one of the soldiers that was a true hero because he cared for those that were sick in the war and looked after them. One day Tony was shot and his leader dragged him to safety he wanted to go on and keep fighting until he died,he earned the military cross for his actions on the day, after a while Tony passed away on 29 May 1970.

Whanaungatanga Week Reflection

WALT: Reflect on our whanaungatanga experience in week 4.
Last week we had a exciting week because it was all about building positive relationships. Building positive relationships means Whanaungatanga this a school value that is expected to be used consistently. One thing I found helpful was the attitude program, because they gave me a lot of helpful tips for my friendships and ways to find new friends and make my friendship stronger. One thing I found challenging was the tug of war game because we did not have that much players and it was challenging holding onto the rope.
We also went to the YMCA Lagoon pools in Panmure. It was exciting because we worked as a team in the pool and showed Manaakitanga. We also did great activities in our groups, this task was challenging because we had to work in a group to get to the other side by locking hands. Most of us couldn't swim so it was challenging. But we didn't give up and we still tried and it was amazing seeing our team constantly trying and not giving up.

After the pools we had a sleepover at school. The sleepover was really good to get to know everyone when outside of the classroom. It was good to see everyone contribute and participate and give it 100% in everything. I think something I can improve on is listening to instructions fast and doing my work up to the standard expected. One thing I learnt about myself is that I am more confident and that I am passionate.

Attitude Program

WALT: Write an reflection about our attitude program session

Today we had a session that was about an attitude program. The attitude program was about yourself and who are you and what is your personality. This program was very inspiring, it really helps me being more confident. It was also very helpful by getting to know how people think and what there personality.

The 4 personalities were Lion,Beaver,Golden Retriever and Otters. I was most likely to be a lion's personality because of my character traits.

Who am I ?
I am confident
I am an Lion, a lion is independent, a lion is a leader and many more outstanding things. A lion is strong, can make things happen, a lion is bold and also works hard.
I think I can match up with those things and this is the most likely animal/personality that matches who I am.

What do you think?
Who are you ?
